A Day in the Life of a Hospitalera

6:00 – up, open gate of albergue and chapel doors.  Help pilgrims depart by 8am.

8:00 – start cleaning all of albergue- rooms, baths, kitchen, outside. Wash/dry/fold laundry. Sweep/mop floors & stairs.

10:00 – coffee with parish priest (make his toast & cocoa).

10:30 – free time!

1:00 – open albergue & start registering pilgrims, assigning rooms.

1:00 – 9:00pm rotate in teams of 2-3 (there are 4 of us) doing above.  Always helping & talking to pilgrims with a hundred things.

10:30 – lights out, one person locks up gate, chapel.

Fifteen and a half hour days.  Nothing to it!  And on top of each day, we’re having a great time!
