Day One of being Hospitaleros!

It’s been busy today!  Up at 6:00 AM, getting people out of the albergue, helping a peregrino get a bus to the next town, closing up the albergues, cleaning, prepping for re-opening at 1:00 PM, a trip to the grocery store for supplies, laundry, then taking turns registering all the peregrinos showing up today.

We have two more hours of being open for hikers to register.  So far today we have guests from 16 countries! They are from the Czech Republic, USA, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Poland, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Germany, Britain,  Taiwan,  Australia, Israel, Slovakia, Japan, and France.  Unbelievable!  And who knows what the next two hours will bring!

It’s only Day One, but it’s fun and exciting.  And we’re trying to catch our breath!

Meet the crew:

This is Kelly, from Australia
Say hello to Karen from Seattle
This is Ignacio from Tenerife, Spain
This is Brenda from Mesa

  1. This is so exciting! I did wonder how you would get your laundry done! You all look like an excellent team and how fortunate the peregrino/as are to have you as hosts. This is for Ignacio in Spanish…hola Ignacio, soy amiga de Brenda en Portland Oregon. Fuimos conjuntas en el Camino en 2017. Tienes mucha suerte y bendiciones en este equipo tan amable en Ponferrada ahora. Que les disfruten durante la estancia en este albergue increible…cuidense todos! Robin
