The first part of this post was written yesterday, Sept. 27. The mystery of the missing suitcase continues. It’s been over 72 hours since we have been here, and the suitcase is still in the wind. The airline told me to go out and buy whatever I needed to replace items in the bag, and I would be reimbursed for them. They seem reasonably confident my bag will turn up. But in the meantime, we went shopping today and helped out the Madrid economy a bit. It’s great to have choices in your clothing! I’m still hoping my bag finds its way back to me, though.

We spent the morning with a really great walking tour guide who animatedly showed us a bunch of history and charming corners we hadn’t seen before. Saturday on a gorgeous day meant the streets were packed.

The three of us up to no good!
NEWS FLASH!! (Sept. 28)
The suitcase that has been missing has been located! A courier, as we write, is driving it up to Ponferrada, which is 245 miles from Madrid. Karen and I are waiting for our train to Ponferrada. My suitcase will likely beat us up there. But it’s found!
